The Soul Society: Sidewinder
[DOT Records 7", 1968]
Drum-heavy latin soulish take on Lee Morgan's Sidewinder. The song was comped on Keb Darge/Bob Jones' Jazz Spectrum album. Also recommended is the version by no other than Mr. Ray Charles.

Louis Jordan: Bullitt
[Pzazz Recods 7", 1969]
A very brave cover of Lalo Schifrin's Bullit - the best sound track... ever.

Kitty Montgomery: Hey Boy
[SANNS 7", 1969]
Massive femme funk with a northern soul approach. Strong vocals.

The Interpretations: Blow Your Mind
[Jubilee 7", 1969/'70]
Massive wah-wah heavy funk with huge drums from northern Philly. Some of the Interpretations members became members of MFSB, a million selling group.

Ann Sexton: You've Been Gone Too Long
[Seventy Seven 7", 1971]
Ann Sexton is one of the great unsung female soul singers of all time and "You've Been Gone..." is therefore one of the best (northern)soul tracks of all times. Released on 77 Records situated in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jeannie Piersol: Your Sweet Inner Self
[Cadet Concept 7", 1968]
The A-side is a deep soul track "The Nest" but go straight to the wonderful B-side where you will find this fast paced soul classic that is dancefloor friendly yet soulful.

Gimmicks: Visst Är Du Kär
[Polydor 7", 1975]
A cover of Skip Scarborough's "You Can't Hide Love" sung in... Swedish!!! Funky? Yes, and still pays hommage to the original. Nice flute thrown in in the instro section.
